I bought this bottle of hand sanitizer today for only RM2.80 which is roughly about $0.60. These are so valueble during this lock down period that if you don't have any and you see it, you gotta buy it without hesitation as it would be sold out within minutes.
Just last week I could not find any of these as it was sold out almost everywhere I went. However when I did find it, it was a small tiny bottle and it cost about RM8 each !!! That's like $2. I didn't have a choice but to get it as I really didn't have any at that time.
From what I understand after reading chats from groups within the community these opportunists would buy barrels of sanitizers pack it up and sell at a crazy mark up.
I do understand its business, but a 400% increase is a bit ridiculous.
Scammers
There are also a lot of scams going around where people are selling masks and hand sanitizers. People would go buy them and pay in full thinking they got the best price as it was selling slightly cheaper then normal rate.
They would wait for it to come... And after days of waiting it never shows up. When trying to contact the seller.. There would be no reply.
During time of crisis, no doubt that there are a lot of great and amazing people out there who would go all out to help others.. Even strangers. It's sad to see others take advantage of the situation to profit of them by scamming them.
So now since almost everyone is online a majority of the time, so make sure that you also take extra precautions before making purchases online. Don't be lazy to do your due diligence and it could cost you a fortune.
