Splinterlands is a play-to-earn game and has become one of the most successful and popular blockchain games built on the HIVE blockchain https://hive.blog Earlier this year land was sold out on the game accounting for a total of 150,000 plots of land. Now that may seem like a lot but remember millions of people are now playing blockchain games in particular play to earn games so 150,000 plots can get very competitive!

A once $20 land plot is now selling for over $700 but what's really crazy is land is hardly talked about in the game. There's still very much unknown about land other then the fact it will passively produce resources and spells to be used within the game. What we also know is that these resources and spells will be tradable on the market as tokens. This means you can produce these resources and use them yourself or trade them with other players creating one of the biggest passive income resources I can think of!
The other factor I think we have to pull in here is that many players are currently not super active in the game. This is because at the time of writing this older Untamed, Alpha, Beta, Dice and Orbs packs are going for $50+ each! Just now we are in prelaunch of Chaos packs and those are selling out like crazy including vouchers.
Because of these factors of not being talked about much and a lot of the focus right now is on Chaos prelaunch it begs the question of what the price of Splinterlands Land plots will go for once we get more details on land, the official release announcement and then the day it releases. Those are always big days for any game asset which makes me think $800 right now could actually be crazy cheap!

Land brings a powerful new aspect to the game in terms of Items and Spells which can be used in battle and seem to be burned after each battle. This means it's a constant sought after resource of players and it can ONLY be created with land.
What else is important is that this creation process is random and many factors will go into what provides a higher quality item or spell such as... level of building, monster & summoner cards working the building, types of essences uses bonuses from totem artifacts placed in building.
Buildings as well as crafting and gaining resources takes time but all of these factors can be sped up by using DEC (Dark Energy Crystals)

With land currently trading at $800 each and currently not doing anything besides being a place holder land could very well go up to near $2,000 would be my guess. Being that there's only 150,000 plots and each plot is unique and at the moment it is unclear what plot you have until land is released this unknown factor of land plots could drastically increase in value!
