Hive Goes Mainstream DeFi!
Hive has been one of my top cryptos for years now. I believe in the project and all of it's capabilities and still feel it is greatly undervalued. However that is changing quickly over the last two years as the play2earn space heated up. In particular Splinterlands really rallied Hive and showed what was possible with some serious work and building a quality application that runs on a feeless blockchain.
The one big issue with hive however was a major liquidity issue and being able to get your hands on it. Unless you had access to a few crypto exchanges or a limited reaching swap platform the only way you could really get your hands on it was providing value in blogs and comments on the hive blockchain via Hive.Blog or a layer two front end token such as LeoFinance.io this took time though as you had to build yourself up on the network, wait 7 days for a cycled payout from your posts and curation and honestly working hard towards building yourself within the community to get noticed.
This limited the use cases and value of Hive I feel but that is now changing.
Hive Liquidity Pools
At first it started with Hive getting a swap type function so it made it easier to spawn hive and HBD for other layer two tokens directly in apps instead of using something like LeoDex.io from there it expanded into liquidity pools via platforms like BeeSwap and Tribaldex Diesel Pools This gave hive a bit of a defi type feel to it by offering up liquidity providers some rewards for the transactions that took place via their pools. It also offered up the ability for platforms to offer swaps and moving of funds directly within the application itself which was a huge leap forward for Hive in general.
Hive Now On DeFi
It only made sense that the next progression of this would be to introduce the Hive ecosystem to DeFi platforms. That finally happened with the introduction of the first decentralized stable coin called HBD which was added to the PolyCub DeFi Farm This provided one of the largest injections of wealth into that DeFi platform and it's use case actully grew. Because of this the LeoFinance team is now exploring to add in other options of high value from the Hive blockchain.
From the sounds of it the first ones that will be added will be a wrapped version of the HIVE token called pHIVE on the polygon network. This means HIVE will now become a part of PolyCub and allow for fee collection for swaps in and out of pHIVE. They are also looking into adding other value driven assets such as the SPS Splintershard governance tokens for the Play2Earn game Splinterlands along with pRUNE which will tap into the popular blockchain called Thorchain.
All of this will be connected via a wrapping and swapping service called the LEOBridge which is also currently undergoing some big UI updates and functions. All of this will fuel both the of the DeFi tokens called CUB (located on the Binance Blockchain) and PolyCUB (located on the Polygon network)
All of these new features including new liquidity and power for Hive and the LeoFinance ecosystem are sure to start driving some real value and use cases to the blockchain that simply have no existed till now.
