Managing an investment portfolio can be challenging. The constant wallet monitoring, the communication with the exchange desk, and the market tracking could be exhausting if it has to be done manually. Fortunately, there are many apps available to help alleviate these burdens.

This article takes a look at three of the leading bitcoin investment apps, as reviewed by Bitcoin Market Journal.

Coinbase

Arguably the most prominent bitcoin exchange and commercial wallet providers currently in existence, the San Francisco company saw its seven millionth subscriber in 2017. Much of the company's success comes from offering a very user-friendly product.

Coinbase's app extends this user-friendliness to the mobile device. An integral part of the exchange's sign-up process (sign-ups can be facilitated through the mobile app), the app allows users to access their wallets, view market information, and buy and sell bitcoin, Ether, Litecoin, and Bitcoin Cash. Users can access a similar interface via the Internet for at-home use. Coinbase accepts credit card, debit card, and bank transfer as payment.

Blockfolio

While Coinbase is very user-friendly, it does not help the investors that wish to dabble in coin diversification. If you want to invest in the less popular coins, there is no app better suited for the job than Blockfolio. Capable of tracking the market activity of over 2,000 altcoins and able to present your portfolio in almost any fiat currency, Blockfolio is the must-have mobile market tracker. Blockfolio is able to present candlestick charts and orderbooks for every coin it lists, present current news from CoinDesk, and issue user-defined price notifications.

Blockfolio will also help you fill out your Form 8949 in order to record and file your capital gains taxes on your portfolio. However, Blockfolio is not an exchange app, so you will still need a separate app to conduct your buying and selling and to manage your wallet.

zTrader

A trading client, zTrader connects to 17 of the leading exchanges to allow trading of hundreds of different altcoins. zTrader, in conjunction with a market reporting app like Blockfolio, could offer a solid mobile platform for the more advanced investor.

zTrader offers a news feed, technical analysis tools, price alerts, and a chat room. The app also allows seamless transitions between fiat currencies, CoinMarketCap-like market overviews, encrypted storage of altcoin keys, and limit/market orders.

zTrader currently supports the following exchanges:

  • Bitfinex
  • Bitstamp
  • Bittrex
  • BitVC (Huobi)
  • Bleutrade
  • BTC China
  • BTC-e
  • CEX.IO
  • Cryptsy
  • EmpoEX
  • HitBTC
  • Huobi
  • Justcoin
  • Kraken
  • OKCoin
  • Poloniex

However, zTrader is only available for Android, making it a bit less attractive than the other apps mentioned.

The Takeaway

There are, of course, many other apps to consider for altcoin investment. However, these three provide a wide array of tools to help the altcoin investor take action on the go.
