Good topic. Yeah, I've made no secret of the fact that I've always thought that gaming on blockchains would become BIG business. For that reason, I went fairly heavily into Enginecoin and WAX. (I also went into CryCash... er... I'd rather not talk about that!) I still absolutely expect this sector of the market to explode, especially with e-sports and NFTs thrown into the equation.
EA has a bit of a reputation in the gamer world for over-commercialising things and ruining them. Hopefully this does not become a problem for crypto. But whatever happens, having such a huge name onboard will greatly increase exposure and help pull the industry forward.
I suppose we have to accept that Gaming has become "gaming". Most modern games are of a similar format: they are pay-to-win games based on micropayments and specifically designed to keep the player always wanting more. Ethically I have a problem with this, but the whole industry now works that way - especially since the dawn of smartphone gaming - and it's unavoidable. Most of the games might not be much fun, but they will generate revenue! ANd hey, if crypto gets to benefit from that, then it's not all bad!
