The Snow Storm in the UK today!
I have been on Steem now for just under 3 weeks and I have seen a lot of articles about the destruction snow storms have left behind especially to properties.

My sister is in the processing of moving house and asked me to help out. It was early morning and the neighbour came knocking on her door and asked if we would like some salt on a drive way as a snow storm was supposed to be heading our way. My sister said we won’t need it as we won’t be using the cars today.
I checked a few local weather aps and websites which had all issued “Weather warnings: Heavy Snow”. Some of the comments were referring to the snow storm of 2001 (which i have no memory of :)
It got to around 11am and the neighbors began preparing for the Snow Storm that was about to arrive. I saw people on the street; covering their cars with plastic coverings, putting grit on drives so the snow wont set and I overheard one of the neighbors speaking to someone on the phone and asking them “can we reschedule dinner plans tonight, we are expecting a huge snow storm in the next hour and it might be difficult to use the roads!”.
It was great to see such great community spirit and people were knocking on each other’s doors to ensure people had adequate resources in their houses like food. It did however feel like mass hysteria was overcoming the street.
The snow started lightly dropping around 12pm, and then between 1pm-2pm it began getting very heavy.

I looked out the front window of my sister’s house to see other neighbors with cups to tea looking out there windows with worried expressions on their face. From looking at there faces i was really expecting the worst.
By around 3pm I began looking at the local news websites to find the council had cancelled local bus services and trains were being delayed to parts of the city.
By 4pm the snow was slowing down and at most around 0.5mm of snow had settled on the ground. By this time most of the neighbors had come out of their houses and were putting away the shovels they had put on their drive ways away. I took the below picture to highlight the peak of the Storm.
The below pictures was taken after 4pm when the snow had stopped. I was looking forward to posting an article which could demonstrate the severity of a snow storm in the UK which may interest #Steem readers, but it seems the below is considered the UK standard of a snow storm #Snowstorm #UKSnow #EnglandSnow #anticlimax
It made me think how lucky we are in the UK we don’t have to deal with extreme snow conditions like Canada and Norway do, but also in the event we do have to deal with one, how can we best prepare?
I wont overload you with pictures on this post, but i also got a snap of one of the oldest trees (and a great story to go with it about why its the oldest tree in the area) in the new area my sister is moving to. More on this in another post and hopefully in time for #Treetuesdays or one of @Kus-knee competitions!
