When we talk about hearing, it means to understand, to assimilate and receive an information. Then, after hearing or receiving an information, you are left with what you want to do with the information, advice or whatever it may be.
That’s why so many people hear but not listen.

Even if it’s not the word of God, it may be anything but as long as it is an information, we can do with it what we like but when it comes to the word of God, we should always listen and heed to His words.

The way satan blinds people is easy. Satan goes to those who do not believe in the true God of the Bible. So, he goes after them and block their ears just to make sure that they do not listen to the word of God. So, we should never expect them to hear and listen to the word of God because they have been blinded by the devil.

Colossians 3:5 says, Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

Just look at this rule which God has given all of us including the Israelites but what did they do? They still worshipped idols right after God had just saved them from the den of King Pharoah.

So that means they heard but didn’t listen. God has told them the right thing to do so it is left to them to either do it or not. That means we have choices.

Well, the fact that God give us choice doesn’t mean that we should hear and not listen. If God makes a rule, we should always listen because there are so many things attached to going to heaven and if we want to make heaven, we have to hear and listen to the words of God.
