I was pleased to see a wintering flock of Eastern Bluebirds in Nashville, TN this week. Theiy are early nesters and tend to move north pretty early in many areas.

They have a cool name, Laughing Gull, named for the Haw-Haw type call that they make.

I'm pretty sure this is a Hoopoe, likely a Eurasian Hoopoe Upupa epops

-20 Wow. That's cold! Sun or no sun, cold.

Thanks. It was really a great bird for Washington.

Thanks for making this community happen.

Orange-eyed and orange throated!

It looks really cold!

Beautiful shot. Love the Tringas.

Spectacular photography. Love it.

Common Redpoll is absolutely one of my favorite winter visitors here in Washington State. They have it all going for them, cute, hard to find, acrobatic, and overall really cool birds.

Just for your information these birds are Egrets.

Your crow has some serious molt going on. I love the detail of the feather wear and replacement in the flight feathers.

I saw just one of these on a trip to Nome, Alaska over 25 years ago. Hoping to see another someday. They are spectacular.

You may want to know that the small sandpipers in these photos are Sanderlings.

Welcome

Wagtails, both White and Yellow have subspecies that are so different that it seems like different species.

Nice work and a nice discussion of the project. Thanks.

I agree sleeping birds are cool, and sometimes can be an identification challenge. As a birder I like to try to identify the photos I see to species. It can be really helpful to know where the photos are
