Pulling your opponent towards you can work out for you. It did for me here when I pulled with the harpoon gun (the second kill, not the down that was harpoon gun only): https://athenascope.com/game-session/13188393/video/358334803

But it really depends. That could have gone pear shaped for me.

One thing I have seen people have good success with the carnage symbiote is pulling people out of their builds with it. You'd still need to be prepared to shoot them once they are at you but using it that way seems to have worked well for people at times.
