I have encountered a few PTSDers who claimed that no one could know how they felt. It can be akin to victims acting like aggressors, angry at their reality, which I completely understand. However, one thing I have never done is claim that someone can't understand. I know that for others to understand means I need to open up and explain it to them. Granted some people will be jerks, but most people DO understand to the best of their capacity.
Now, I do understand someone who is dealing with PTSD or CPTSD and does not see how anyone without it can understand, even if I see that people without it can understand. What bothers me is if another PTSDer claims that I don't understand and ignores the fact that I too suffer from CPTSD. While we all live it differently, we all experience similar symptoms.
This Healing Through Humour Capsule is a charicature of such a situation, being faced with another CPTSDer who believes that others simply can never understand.
I learnt that opening up and being vulnerable has allowed so many to understand and to open up about their own experiences and has brought a lot of love into my life.
