After years of buying insecticide sprays off of the shelf, I decided to try something different. The sprays always said "Fresh Scent," or some other such nonsense. All of the sprays I have used smelled horrible. I spray, and then gag. Even the ones labeled "organic" smell like tear gas. Why is that? Why add any smell at all?

Then I tried Pyrethrin. I mix it in a one quart spray bottle, with one tablespoon of Pyrethrin per quart of water. One bottle of Pyrethrin may last a season, or two. For extra knockdown, I usually put a few drops of Dr. Bronner's soap in there.

This bottle has an adjustable nozzle, so you can spray near, and far. It will reach out maybe 10'. After using it for a while it shoots like a pistol, and I have made a game of my aim. I have become pretty accurate. What I like about this is is does not SMELL, is effective, and is economical. The Yellow Jacket Queen (above right) was dispatched by one shot of my Pyrethrin Pistol. (See the spots on her back? That makes her a queen.)
