I have mentioned before that I love visiting historical, authentic places. A few days ago, I met up with my high school friends and we had a good time. After having dinner at a famous restaurant, we decided to go to a different friend's workplace for a visit and a cup of tea. While walking down the street, this historical and cultural place caught my attention. Although I had passed this street many times before, I didn't notice it. Maybe it was closed, I don't know. Anyway, after visiting my friend, I decided to visit this place. My friends accompanied me.

Tarihi, otantik yerleri gezmeyi sevdiğimi daha önce belirtmiştim. Birkaç gün önce lise arkadaşlarımla buluşup güzel zaman geçirdik. Meşhur bir lokantada yemek yedikten sonra hem ziyaret hem de çay içmek için farklı bir arkadaşın iş yerine geçmeye karar verdik. Caddede yürürken bu tarihi ve kültürel yer dikkatimi çekti. Daha önce bu caddeden birçok defa geçmeme rağmen fark etmemiştim. Belki de kapalıydı bilmiyorum. Her neyse arkadaşı ziyaret ettikten sonra burayı gezmeye karar verdim. Arkadaşlarım da bana eşlik etti.
Despite being in the center of the city, there was no interest in the museum. There was not even a guard or security inside. First we were greeted by the model tailor. It is so beautifully made that it looks like the real thing. The clothes on it resemble the lifestyle of the old times and the tools on the table shed light on how the tailoring profession was practiced in the past. Today, such machines continue to be used, albeit to a lesser extent. We had a sewing machine like this when we were little. I would even sit on the floor underneath it and play with the round, steering wheel-like part. Maybe this is where the love of driving came from. 😄
Şehrin merkezi olmasına rağmen müzeye ilgi yoktu. Hatta içerde görevli, güvenlik dahi yoktu. Bizi ilk olarak maket terzi karşıladı. O kadar güzel yapılmış ki gerçek gibi duruyor. Üstündeki elbiseler eski dönemlerin yaşam tarzını andırıyor ayrıca masanın üzerindeki aletler geçmiş dönemlerdeki terzilik mesleğinin nasıl icra edildiğine ışık tutuyor. Günümüzde bu tip makineler az da olsa kullanılmaya devam ediyor. Küçükken bizim de buna benzer bir dikiş makinemiz vardı. Hatta ben altında ki yere oturup yuvarlak, direksiyonu andıran kısmını çevirip oynardım. Araba kullanma sevdası belki de buradan geldi. 😄
Which of the tools in this picture do you know or which ones are familiar to you? The tool that caught my attention the most was the plow used in agriculture. For those who don't know what a plow is, it is a wooden, pointed tool resembling a pickaxe. Almost everyone knows what this tool is for. It increases the fertility of the soil by digging the soil before planting seeds in the field or garden. Although tractors and modern tools are used today to carry out these operations, they were used with the help of animals in the past.
Bu resimdeki aletlerden hangilerini biliyorsunuz ya da hangileri size tanıdık geldi? Benim en çok dikkatimi çeken alet tarımda kullanılan saban idi. Sabanı bilmeyenler için; tahtaya dayalı, kazmayı andıran ucu sivri alet. Bu aletin ne işe yaradığını hemen hemen birçok kişi biliyordur. Tarlaya ya da bahçeye tohum ekmeden önce toprağı kazarak verimliliğini artırır. Bu işlemleri yapma da günümüzde her ne kadar traktörler ve modern aletler kullanılsa da geçmiş yıllarda hayvanlar yardımıyla kullanılmış.
The barber with his beard was as interesting as the tailor. Everything is ready and the barber is waiting to shave his customer. 🙂
My focus here was on the samovar, which was fixed to the ceiling to wash the hair after shaving, and resembled a calabash. Also the seat looked very cozy and comfortable. Unfortunately I couldn't sit because it was forbidden. 🙂
Sakalı ile ön plana çeken berber de en az terzi kadar ilgi çekiciydi. Her şey hazır berber müşterisini traş etmek için bekliyor. 🙂
Buradaki odak noktam ise traş olduktan sonra saçları yıkamak için tavana sabitlenmiş, bakracı, helkeyi andıran semaverdi. Ayrıca koltuk çok rahat ve konforlu görünüyordu. Yasak olduğu için maalesef oturamadım. 🙂
There are also different tools in the museum. I think the typewriter in the picture was used a lot or the visitors tampered with it. Because the letters were all mixed up. Although it was forbidden to touch it, my friends and I tried to restore the letters. I think it was more beautiful like this.
Müzenin içerisinde farklı aletlere de yer verilmiş. Resimdeki daktilo sanırım çok kullanılmış ya da gelen ziyaretçiler kurcalamış. Çünkü harfler birbirine girmişti. Dokunmak yasak olmasına rağmen arkadaşlarla biraz uğraşıp harfleri yerine getirmeye çalıştık. Sanırım böyle daha güzel oldu.
When I saw the mill here, I thought of my grandfather. He was a miller by profession. But not like in the picture. He had a workplace of his own. The work in the picture is really laborious. You need to have a good wrist and strength. In the center of the stone basin there are two stones stacked on top of each other and they are connected to each other. After throwing some wheat into the center of the top stone, the wheat is crushed as the top stone is rotated with the help of a wooden stick, thus forming flour. It is really very laborious work. I respect people who lived in the past.
Buradaki değirmeni görünce aklıma dedem geldi. Onun mesleği de değirmenciydi. Ancak resimdeki gibi değil. Kendisine ait bir işyeri vardı. Resimdeki işi yapmak gerçekten çok zahmetli. İyi bir bileğe ve güce sahip olmak gerek. Taş leğenin ortasında üst üste bindirilmiş iki adet taş bulunuyor bunlar birbirine bağlı. Üstteki taşın ortasına bir miktar buğday attıktan sonra tahta sopa yardımıyla üstteki taş döndürüldükçe buğday eziliyor böylelikle un oluşuyor. Gerçekten çok zahmetli iş. Geçmiş dönemlerde yaşayan insanlara saygı duyuyorum.
I can't decide whether the uncle in this picture is a tailor or a shoe repairman. The machine looks very much like the machines used by tailors, but right next to it were shoes of different styles. By the way, aren't the shoes very eye-catching? I would like to try the other one but not the red one. 😅
Bu resimdeki amca terzi mi yoksa ayakkabı tamircisi mi olduğuna karar veremedim. Makine terzilerin kullandığı makineleri çok andırıyor ancak hemen yanında farklı tarzlarda ayakkabılar bulunuyordu. Bu arada ayakkabılar çok dikkat çekici değil mi? Kırmızı ayakkabıyı değil de diğerini denemek isterdim açıkçası.😅
I don't know if it still continues today, but in the past, saddlery was a popular profession. According to the stories, making a saddle in this difficult profession could take days. The biggest function of the saddle is to provide convenience in carrying loads. It also keeps you balanced when you ride on the horse. When I was little, we had a horse and I loved riding horses.
Günümüzde hâlâ devam ediyor mu bilmiyorum ama eskiden Semercilik popüler bir meslekmiş. Anlatılanlara göre zor olan bu meslekte semer yapmak günlerce sürebiliyormuş. Semerin en büyük işlevi ise yük taşımada kolaylık sağlaması. Ayrıca atın üzerine bindiğiniz zaman dengede kalmanızı sağlıyor. Küçükken bizim de atımız vardı ve ata binmeyi çok severdim.
One of the interesting parts of the city museum is the section with clocks. Many different types of watches are on display. I usually saw pocket watches in movies and was very curious about them. Even though I didn't pick them up and examine them, it was nice to see them live.

The agricultural tool you see in this picture is called a scythe. It continues to be used in our region, albeit to a lesser extent. It allows the harvested crops to be easily thrown into the plow. Moreover, I can say that it is very comfortable to use thanks to its light weight.
Bu resimde gördüğünüz tarım aletinin ismi Tırpan. Bizim yörede az da olsa kullanılmaya devam ediyor. Toplanan ekinleri patoza kolaylıkla atmayı sağlıyor. Üstelik hafifliği sayesinde kullanması da çok rahat diyebilirim.
The left tool you see in the last picture is called a sickle and the right is a hand tool. Many people are familiar with the sickle, but the hoe is not so well known. It is usually used by women when harvesting crops. Since women's hands are smaller than men's, they get help from this tool and thus harvest much more crops. That's all I have to tell you. Son resimdeki gördüğünüz sol aletin ismi orak sağdaki ise ellik. Orağı hemen hemen birçok kişi biliyordur ancak ellik çok bilinen bir alet değil. Ekin hasadı yaparken genellikle kadınlar kullanır.
