I had a passing thought, of a political party or non-profit entity, that could utilize a blockchain to create profiles and histories of politicians, and create a viewable paper-trail of past trustworthiness. It would keep a record of professional promises they made to the public, laws they passed, and provide highlights into their political careers; utilizing this data, it could create and publish rankings, charts, and comparisons on candidates and incumbents.
The more I thought about it though, the more it seemed that it would have to rely heavily on donations, and money doesn't seem to flow as fast when the cause doesn't provide concessions or preferential treatment, and if it went down that road we'd just end up in a more complicated version of what we have now...
