I'm not a child of the depression (about 20 years late) but I was raised by parents who were. I get the scarcity mentality.

I changed headlight bulbs on my motorcycle yesterday. One was burned out so I knew the other wouldn't be far behind. I changed both, but when it came time to throw out that still working bulb I almost cried. Really.
