The amount of money Google makes by directing their searches is almost as amazing to me as the amount they make selling my information to advertisers to whom they direct my search. It's a closed loop, or very nearly so.

I recently quit using Google as my search engine-I went to Ecosia (I won't post a link, but even google knows how to find them) for two reasons. They plant a tree somewhere on earth for every 40 searches and they don't sell advertising data. They actually DO plant trees (they are over 150,000,000 now) and they aren't just jabbing sticks in the ground hoping they will grow-they don't count a tree as planted until it's 3 years old and growing.

I also use Duck Duck Go when I want an anonymous search. They don't keep any records except usage numbers.

Look at those numbers. Ecosia is a type B non-profit that has to plant a LOT of trees to keep from turning an astounding profit (Trust me here, their people, at least their top people are well compensated). They are less than 10% the size of Google.

I'm going to quit even though I've really just started. My REAL rant for the day has to do with click bait headlines. Sigh.

I meditate every day, and I rarely confuse the two :)
