When Kroger bought out Fry's here in AZ we saw some changes. They instituted a 10% discount on everything for seniors-on the first Wednesday of every month (yesterday). I won't go near the place (I don't even like to drive by) on that day cause it's an incredible frenzy.
That policy has been in place at least 10 years and still is. I do much of my shopping there and average 10-20 cents per gallon in fuel discounts.
But taking a reward away is crazy. The cigar company I use has just dropped their 'rewards' program where you could exchange 'points' for cash off an order. They say they have a new system that will be much better. I'll believe that when I see it. But I've been ordering from them for better than 30 years so I'll still get my 10% loyalty discount everytime.
In this part of the world, pissing off seniors is fatal. Probably 80% of the population qualifies.
