Horseshoe Bend is an awesome spot. It's really easy to get to, yet most don't go. It's one of those places that has to be seen to be believed.

I have a hard time calling those structures Carins. I'd call them zen rocks. Stacks made just for the aesthetic of them, not actual memorials. I have a few that I add a stone to every time I pass. Some just out of respect, some because I know the reason they are there. Desert dwellers consider it bad luck to pass by a Carin without adding to it or at least pausing in respect.

I have one I tend in SE Utah. It started for my daughter and now has a frightful number of stones on it that I have placed. Others have added, too. Which leads me to Goosenecks State Park, Utah. Near Medicine Hat and right next to 'the Valley of the Gods' it's a place you should see, Sara. I'd further recommend a drive up the Moki Dugway and Muley Point State Park at the top. From Goosenecks you can see Valley of the Gods and Monument Valley. Impressive place.
