Just when I was leaving Washington State the public voted to outlaw leg traps and hunting cats with hounds. It was a real "Disney" campaign and had a couple of unintended consequences.

All leg traps were illegal so the squirrel population in the Kittitas valley exploded. One of the richest cattle growing regions in the world, before they got an exception for squirrel traps some of the pasture there was seriously degraded.

The poodle and domestic cat population was very impacted. People lost pets by the thousands. Hound hunting was re instated in response.
