RE: McCloud, CA to Wolf Creek, OR
The whole area is just lush and beautiful. I just talked to a friend that is planning to be there on Christmas. Should be deep snow and absolute beauty. Where I camped (further east) tends to be drier

RE: WE 116 I Have One Year To Live
Exactly! Not me. I had a German Shorthair that was just deadly. By the time you caught the first whiff it was too late to roll the window down or save yourself in any way. And give you the 'not me' look.

RE: DIY Weekend: Under The Skin
I get it. Smaller is lighter and lighter is better. But shops have to be hiring mechanics with small hands and arms to get in where they need to go. Honda has always been fairly notorious for that. And

Samuri the car? Or are you talking a motorcycle model that is named something different there? The Samuri car is just tearing up the 'classic' market here. It's one of the largest risers in the segment

RE: The Weekend of the Craftsman: End of the First Run [WE: 118]
What a terrific post! I am completely in awe of your craftsmanship, and your dedication to the craft. Like the Gdog I'm not much of a video watcher. If I'd not read about your video in the announcement

RE: Going camping despite the rain and the unexpected ending
Rainy camping has it's own special attraction. No sound more soothing that rain on a non-leaky tent. Maybe none more annoying than rain dripping inside the tent :) I have an old shower curtain that I use

RE: [Week 118] Weekend-Engagement concept
There's actually a little more to the story. In 1910 there was a big problem with Mexican bandits (actually patriots, depending on which side of the border you call home). Pancho Villa and his people so

Thank you, I hope I can and will. My fall plans are active right now. I'm sure I'll get to Great Basin National Park, and I really want to get back to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, too. Thank you

Crater Lake is just a gem. No other way to say it. At Christmas you are liable to see deep snow, and the photographs I've seen of that are just spectacular. The fog was just stunning to me. I'm still amazed.

RE: Share Our World: First Day's Camp at Lake Powell
Nice rainfly! :) I sometimes use a tarp as an auxiliary moisture deflection device. I'd have gone a little farther up where there's a level spot. I'm old so don't get up off the ground very well. I use

You know? You make it really hard for me to color inside the lines. It's your fault, actually. That list of people to consider would be good for at least 1000 words before I locked in on my 90 year old

RE: McCloud, CA to Wolf Creek, OR
Crater Lake is a place that needs to be seen. The lake itself is like a gemstone, how it looks depends completely on the light. And it is pristine, no boats (well, there might still be a tour boat. I'm

It was pretty cool, temps in the 40s (f). Crater Lake is generally fair and mild weather, this day being an exception. It is an amazing place, the lake is only part. Some seriously good hiking trails there

RE: McCloud, CA to Wolf Creek, OR
Thanks Wes. It's been more like 15 since I've been there, and not always for lack of trying. A few years ago (4 I think) I darn near rode all the way around trying to get ahead of the fires that were burning.

It was just dumb luck catching this weather condition. Crater Lake is normally sunny, or at most scattered clouds. This was just amazing. There is a lot to see 'out west'. A camper is a great idea!

Wow. Great coverage of a serious thundercell. A boat and a motorcycle have a thing in common. When you hit a storm like this you can not stop. You can coast your car to the edge of the road but a boat

I remember the Brownie. My parents had one. My brother and I have all the family photos from 1944 on (the year my parents were married) and a number of them are in small packets as they came from the
