One of the most important things to do, before entering a industry is to do your research. I see so many people buy business that they have no idea what the industry is really like, and they have a huge draw down in the first quarter of taking over. Well I got my feet wet today, and did the first part of my market research.
I went to the farmers market and bought some mushrooms, to check out the pricing and quality of product. I also wanted to see how much product they had each week to move. Last week I went and got there by 10 and all the mushrooms were gone. This week we got there at 8 just to see what was around. I was a little discouraged as the time to be a mushroom grower is a full time gig, but also saw opportunity there. Price per pound was between 14 and 18 dollars a pound. There is definitely profit to be made there, it is just will it be worth it.
