We are back at it again for Week 7 which is shaping up to be one of the more difficult weeks to really narrow done on some solid fantasy plays. Many elite players are either on a bye or caught up in prime time game, which removes them from most DFS discussions. In any case, we start the week off with our favorite position, the quarterback.
Just an FYI for this weekends set of articles. I will be traveling most of the week and caught up in a wedding. For that reason, these articles will still have my favorite plays listed but the analysis will be brief and limited. In fact, some of these articles may come out via the Partiko App, in which case they may look slightly different. Trust that I have still put in the work to choose my plays but just don't have the time to sit down and write a 4 separate, 1-2 hour articles as the week winds down. If you have any questions or need any further breakdown on a player, just use the comments and I will be sure to answer them.
Last week we listed Matt Ryan, Jameis Winston, and Blake Bortles as top play. Both Ryan and Winston turned out to be really great plays while Bortles and the Jaguars just flat out sucked. I mentioned I wouldn't be playing Winston a lot due to his ownership and that came back to bit me. In general, it was a great week for our QB plays and I intend to keep that rolling into this weekend.
Each week we take a step back to review the upcoming weeks matchups and crunch the numbers to develop a series of position specific articles related to top daily fantasy sports plays. Whether you are playing on FanDuel, DrafKings, or even configuring your season long NFL lineups, these articles should serve as a reference tool and helpful guide to choosing the best players. I've shortened these articles to give you only the necessities and bottom-line reasoning as to my top choices. This is a no bullshi*t article and by that I mean the players and plays I suggest are those that I will be using in my personal lineups. Nothing is excluded. We intend to win. The goal is to make great lineups, win money, and share our success stories. If you are new to my blog or daily fantasy sports in general, I encourage you to check out my DFS Introduction post which provides some general context on what DFS is and how to play. Spoiler alert, if you like playing fantasy sports and winning money, DFS is the platform for you. Also, if you haven’t already, feel free to follow my referral links and sign up for Fanduel and Draftkings. Each provides its own set of bonuses for new users.
With that being said, here are my top plays at the quarterback position for Week 7. Enjoy, upvote, and comment on your weekly outlook.
$6,300 / vs. CLE / TB - 3.5
Winston is coming off a great Week 6 performance and continues to look great after finishing the 2017 on a stud level fantasy note. This week he lands in another great spot, playing at home against the Cleveland Browns who although they have put up respectable numbers, will be missing key pieces to their secondary this weekend. Winston has progressed from a matchup only fantasy asset to now a guy you can trust on most weeks. The over/under on this game is one of the highest on the slate at 51, so points should be plenty. With a great cast around him, solid performance history, affordable price tag and solid matchup, Winston lines up as a great play this weekend.
$6,400 / at NYJ / MIN - 3.5
Cousins has been throwing the ball a ton this year which isn't really different from past years but with that much volume puts him in play each week. He and the Vikings pass offense has been almost matchup proof and this weekends opponent, New York Jets, are very exploitable. On paper, the Jets don't look awful against the pass or QBs, however, taking a deeper dive into their opponents will show they haven't really faced major QB competition. They were able to hold the likes of Bortles, Keenum, Mayfield, and Tannehill to below average performances however better QBs like Stafford and Luck have been able to find success against them. More importantly, Adam Theilen lands in a great matchup vs. the inside coverage of the Jets which should lead to a field day for him and Cousins. I like Cousins to continue throwing the ball in high volume this weekend and rip up the Jets defense.
$5,400 / vs. NO / BAL - 2.5
Flacco has the best matchup on paper (main slate) this weekend for fantasy. He and the Raven's are playing at home vs. the New Orlean Saints who have been getting torched by most QBs this year. They give up massive yardage totals through the air as well as come in as one of the most fantasy point friendly matchup for QBs. With the game's over/under currently at 50 and the Raven's projected to score over 26, we should see some points being put up by Flacco and company. He also comes in at a value price tag at $5,400 and if you consider the players he can be stacked with (Crabtree, Brown, Snead), the entire Raven's stack one of the most affordable and cost effective in fantasy this weekend. The savings will price price relief and allow studs to fit into the lineup build. But don't be mistaken, this isn't just about price, Flacco can put up great numbers any given week and with the matchup at home, I have faith this is one of those weeks.
Drew Brees - $5,700 - Saints
That wraps up the Week 7 QB article. Stay tuned for other positions to be posted and more importantly, good luck this weekend and lets win some money.
