My wife and I had received an invitation to attend a wedding being held at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia.
It was a black tie event hence the bow tie tuxedo outfit and dress. A very very lovely wedding with all the bells and whistles.
Being in the city itself was entertaining enough with all the huge skyscrapers but the wedding and all its events were in downtown center city! I loved being able to marvel at these massive structures and then to see people emerge from the subway sewers…
There was a welcome party at a rooftop bar. And then inside the Kimmel center, the home of the Philadelphia orchestra, was the Wedding ceremony and reception. It was all so well hosted and was an incredible pleasure to have experienced. Much Thanks there for the invitation.
Wish I would have gotten even more photos. Sad the weather was intolerable rain and wind all weekend keeping walking to a minimum. But we got out for a little bit and explored between events.
Philly was an incredibly different environment from my day to day. Iv been to surrounding Philly sports complex enumerated times in the past however I never stayed in a downtown Hotel such as that.
In all the people there were very friendly atleast, didn’t have any bad interactions. Breakfast and lunch we found at a cafe and deli respectively. The Deli, Schlesinger’s was a memorable standout from the trip great price for portion of delicious roast beef on bread with gravy. Didn’t think it was possible in a city to get that kind of deal for great food at a sit down place but helped big on that cold wet day.
We checked out the city subway and were astounded at how clean it was. However, There were a handful of unfortunate souls living down there which is sad. And although is was midday when we were down there, they were all asleep? and wrapped in the their blankets so tightly I don’t think I could see any faces. Atleast it was warm down there.
By the end of the wedding I missed my family at home. Driving in to the city was chaos. Driving out was much smoother. I loved all the skyscrapers and mankind’s achievements but i love the green space even more and eagerly return to a quieter place.
