The headline is the way you get into the app, but clips, voting and posting all changed too.
Log in with your email
There is an easier way in now. Type your email, get a six digit code, you are in.
That gives you a lite account: post, vote, comment and drop spots right away. Your clips go out through @skatehive until you have your own Hive account, and the crew sponsors one for you after your first post.
If you already have a Hive account, nothing changed for you. Signing in with your posting key still works exactly the same, it just sits under "Sign in with Hive" in the footer instead of being the first thing a brand new skater sees.
Face ID to get back in
Sign in with a posting key and it gets encrypted on your device. After that, your account shows up as a card and one tap unlocks it with Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode, whatever your phone actually has.
The PIN option is still there, and you now type it twice when you set it, so a typo cannot lock your own key away.
The coach explains things as you go
The pixel punk from Skate or Dice now walks you through the app. Two lines up front: what SkateHive is, and that your clips land on a public blockchain and stay there.
The rest shows up on the screen it belongs to. The map tells you what the pins are and how to drop one. The vote slider tells you the bar is real money coming from other skaters. Skip one tip and you only skip that one, the others still come when you get there.
New profile grid
Every tile shows what that post earned, in green, with a play marker on clips. Zero payouts stay hidden.
New header with bio, country next to your handle, Follow button, and a stats card with Clips, Following and Followers. Tap the Hive Power chip for a plain explanation of what HP is. Tiles load poster frames first so the grid fills fast instead of choking on video.
Lite accounts get the same profile now, reading zero, with a note on how to claim a name of your own. Profile data is cached, so opening a profile you already visited is instant, and pull to refresh actually refreshes the header.
Clips play with sound
Video got the biggest overhaul under the surface. Clips play with audio now, with one mute control shared across the whole app instead of each screen doing its own thing. Hold a video to pause it. Saving a clip to your camera roll works.
The full screen viewer is a real screen now, so the usual iOS swipe dismisses it, and it keeps the poster frame up while buffering instead of going black. The Videos tab and the viewer share one action rail, so the buttons are in the same place wherever you are.
Voting
New web-style voting slider, matching what you get on skatehive.app. A vote you cast stays cast, and it shows the same on every screen instead of resetting when you scroll away and come back.
Posting
Also fixed
The notification badge stays cleared after you read them. The post action bar matches the web footer. Action sheet choices no longer fire before the sheet finishes closing. Lite accounts no longer sit in front of a spinner while the app asks Hive about a handle that is not on Hive. Post cards line up on one left edge.
Want on the build?
Hit us up on Discord and send the email tied to your Apple ID (the iCloud one), and we add you to the build.
If you are already on TestFlight, this one shows up as an update. Break the email login, break the coach, tell us where the grid feels wrong. "This is annoying" counts as a bug report.
Film something.
