Our national flag was made in 1969 by Moazzem Hossain Khan Majlish and Yusuf Salahuddin. Moazzem Hossain Khan Majlish was the general secretary of the Dhaka University branch of the then Chhatra League and Yusuf Salahuddin was the general secretary of the Engineering University Students' Parliament. Although the two were students of two universities during the mass uprising of 1969, due to their close political ties, they used to sit in room 204 of Ahsanullah Hall of the University of Engineering and talk about independence. While sitting here they made the flag of independent Bengal.
Based on the initial proposal of Kazi Aref at the meeting, it was decided to make a yellow flag emblazoned with the map of Bangladesh as a symbol of the golden jute of Bengal amid the red sun on the green ground, expressing the spirit of independence. According to the writings of Kazi Aref Ahmed, if everyone agrees, he sends three people to a shop called "Apollo" in New Market. With dark green and dark red Lady Hamilton's clothes, they go to the owner of Pak Fashion in Balaka Bhaban. He was a non-Bengali. Realizing the matter, he dismissed all the employees and made the flag according to the design himself.
Those who were present at the meeting at Iqbal Hall on June 6, 1970, collectively planned the first design of the national flag of Bangladesh with the same kind of advice. Kazi Aref Ahmed made a preliminary suggestion in this regard. Shivnarayan Das made the national flag of Bangladesh for the first time by the unanimous decision of all. After Bangladesh became independent in 1972, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman dropped the map among the flags designed by Shivnarayan Das.
Patua instructed Kamrul Hasan to make a new flag and report back with an explanation of the size, color, and new design. The dark green color of the current national flag was designed by Patua Kamrul Hasan which is a symbol of the green nature and youth of Bangladesh. And the red circle in the middle symbolizes the rising sun and the blood and self-sacrifice of the people of Bangladesh. The flag of Bangladesh, designed by Kamrul Hasan and made according to all the rules, was officially and fully adopted as the national flag of Bangladesh on January 17, 1972.
