In honesty, before seeing this movie, i had to flip through some reviews just so that i won't be let dissapointed by yet another Riley Scott directed movie who haven't really convinced me with his previous movie (Exodus: Gods and Kings) prior to the release of ''The Martian''. However, i'm glad I never go by critic reviews, considering how bad some of the critics rate the movie. I just had to see it myself, because i believe the reviews are literally just opinions of another person. ''The Martian'' is very well documented and perfectly realistic, the film remains very classic in its construction and in its story, showing us the misadventures of the astronaut Mark Watney who was left for death by his team following a fast evacuation of the planet Mars.
Movie: The Martian (2015)
Genre: Sci-Fi, Drama
Director: Ridley Scott
Cast: Matt Damon (This was completely Matt damon's movie from beginning to end. The other characters were just there to shed the light on Damon.)
Synopsis: An astronaut becomes stranded on Mars after his team assume him dead, and must rely on his ingenuity to find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive.
Reviews: The performance of the actors is exceptional, especially that of Matt Damon who carries the entire film on his shoulders. He manages to pass humor, despair and determination with such ease, and i'm glad he won the Best Actor - Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for such an impeccable performance. The film was so enjoyable that i learnt the then U.S president Barrack Obama named the movie the best science fiction films he had ever seen.
The film manages to stand out without problems and allows Matt Damon to find a role that fits him perfectly, with the actor succeeding to combine humor, survival and emotion. It felt great to see a character embrace optimism and hope in the face of nearly insurmountable failure probability.
Overall, i really enjoyed this movie, though its a bit long but i reckon you are definitely gonn' like every bit of it. if you like to think about space travel in a more practical sense, and how you could survive if left stranded on Mars, then you'll find this movie very interesting.
