Few years after the blockbuster movie ''District 9'', which proved that a sci-fi movie could be made with reasonable financial budget, the South African director, Neill Blomkamp plunges into the political fable, with this time an apartheid between poor and affluent. Elysium is the second feature film for South African director Neill Blomkamp, and like its previous movie (District 9), the real strength of Elysium is the political commitment of the director.

Movie: Elysium (2013)
Genre: Sci-Fi, Drama
Director: Neill Blomkamp
Cast: Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, Alice Braga, and Sharlto Copley.

Synopsis: A man takes on a mission that could bring equality to the polarized worlds. In the year 2154, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth.

Review: Elysium was one of the most anticipated movie of the summer, mainly because of Neill Blomkamp's previous film (District 9) that won him critical acclaim and recognition. I could remember i was waiting impatiently for the release after watching the trailer, and i'm glad it does worth the anticipation. - The director really didn't disappoint me and of course his fans with his second featured sci-fi film - In two films, Neill Blomkamp has created a movie as realistic as ambitious. I love his way of seeing the future, his way of putting it on his films. Here I found in what I liked in "District 9" and even if plot are not of the same, but still, i was caught in it. The storytelling is commendable, with the movie moving in a fast-paced delivery but not leaving the audience almost dizzy trying to catch up with the narration. In fact, it was reminiscent with the speed of technological development nowadays.

Now what is Elysium? It’s an elite, beautiful, and militarily protected by the government, orbiting space station where the truly elite, truly rich people of the human race now reside.

After seeing this movie, its safe to say the director, Neil Blomkamp draws its inspiration from the United States and its relationship with Mexico. He denounces the aberrant privileges of the rich, their egoism and their actions more than limits to the poor.

Overall, Elysium is a great sci-fi film for space lovers, which managed to incorporate futuristic motives without being too flashy, and in fact more grounded compared with other films of its genre. Matt Damon gives a great performance and the movie delivers a unique experience. Highly Recommended
