For a movie tittled ''Captain Fantastic'', one would probably deem it to be yet another ''Super Hero'' flick, but in fact, this is completely the opposite. The director, Matt Ross (TV series actor and author of "28 Hotel Rooms") gives us a nice column about the unsuitability of the world and the fear of confronting it. Through the portrait of a familiy living away from the world, he gently points to the utopia without condemning it, irresponsibility without stigmatizing it, and shows through a road movie scenario turned towards adventure and comedy on how isolation creates maladjustment or even frustration.
Movie: Captain Fantastic (2016)
Genre: Drama, Comedy
Director: Matt Ross
Cast: Viggo Mortensen, Frank Langella, Kathryn Hahn, and Steve Zahn
Synopsis: Deep in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, isolated from society, a devoted father (Viggo Mortensen) dedicates his life to transforming his six young children into extraordinary adults.
Review: Nothing short of insanely phenomenal in all the ways that you want a ''feel-good family movie" genre to be. ''Captain Fantastic'' is such an excellent film that narrates how a family out of the ordinary faces the outside world from the death of a loving mother and darling wife. Viggo Mortensen was nominated for the Oscar for his interpretation as the widower and father of six little geniuses educated and raised in a forest away from all society or technology. Its an amazing cultural shock that makes us reflect about many current situations and our lack of touch with nature and with ourselves.
Would i recommend this movie? Absolutely Yes!! If you want to get a glimpse of a very nice family story, do not hesitate to see Captain Fantastic! It's such an entertaining film, punctuated with funny moments and deep emotions, and a film that makes you think deeply about the role of parent and the educational choices you can make when you have children.
