Swipe left for this 3-part night panorama of Mono Lake, California, known for its bizarre tufa towers; limestone formed by the precipitation of carbonate minerals in water. It’s also home to a strange bacteria which were once thought using the poisonous element arsenic in its biochemistry! The story of the alien-like bacteria was never proved but such extremophiles show how life can lasts in extremely harsh conditions, perhaps elsewhere in the universe. Follow me
