I can relate with some of the childhood summer memories you mentioned. Flying kites was one of them, but it was considered a boy's game in my countryside neighborhood. Out of envy, I would just borrow from them but only for a short time. Also, we did what you mentioned during the Saint's Day or called fiesta; we had a slow parade from the church and back to church. I haven't participated in this event in a long time, but this is still commonly practised here. I am missing my summer childhood memories too.
