The story features strong storytelling, a dynamic pace, and an interesting premise that champions female empowerment while simultaneously illustrating the horrors of war and its political, social, and cultural consequences; it also serves as a critique of the monarchical system and the way commoners are often used as chess pieces—or at least, that was the impression I got.
La historia maneja una buena narrativa, un ritmo dinámico y una premisa interesante que exhalta el empoderamiento femenino, pero al mismo tiempo ilustra los horrores de la guerra y sus consecuencias políticas, sociales y culturales, también es una crítica al sistema monárquico y como los plebeyos menudo son usados como peones de ajedrés, o al menos esa fue la impresión que me dió.
One of the things I enjoyed most about the book was the character development, especially that of the protagonist. She stepped out of her comfort zone; while she had always been a brave woman, leaving her privileged life behind forced her to confront her fears, question her loyalties, and even face her enemy—experiences that helped her gain a deeper understanding of herself and her capabilities. These elements make her a more realistic and human protagonist, one who feels closer to an ordinary person in everyday life.
Una de las cosas que más disfruté del libro fue el desarrollo de personajes, en especial de la protagonista, ella salo de su zona de confort, siempre fue una mujer valiente, pero al dejar atrás su vida acomodada se vio en la necesidad de enfrentar sus miedos, cuestionar sus lealtades eincluso enfrentarse con su enemigo, lo cuál la ayudó a conocerse más a sí misma y sus capacidades. Estos elementos la vuelven una protagonista más real y humana, más cercana a una persona promedio en el mundo cotiiano.
I found this novel a very quick read thanks to its dynamic pace; in fact, the plot is so gripping that I practically devoured the book. I found it incredibly addictive—it features complex characters and invites you to piece together theories.
La lectura de esta novela se me hizo bastante rápida debido a su ritmo dinámico, de hecho la trama es tan atrapante que yo practicamente devoré el libro, me parecía super adictivo, tiene personajes complejos y también te invita a armar conjeturas.
