¡Hola, gente de internet! Hoy quiero hablarles de uno de mis trabajos y que sin dudas disfruto bastante y es el modelaje. Responderé las preguntas más comunes en torno y expondré mi experiencia.
Hello, internet people! Today I want to talk to you about one of my jobs that I really enjoy and that is modelling. I will answer the most common questions about it and talk about my experience.
Empezaremos explicando las dos formas de ser modelo: Una de ellas es a través de una agencia y la otra por tu cuenta (lo que hago) básicamente la primera opción es "más sencilla" ya que la agencia te hace tu porfolio y lo exhibe a su catálogo de clientes según el físico que estos busquen y así te llegan contratos. Por tu cuenta, tú misma haces tu propio porfolio y lo subes a Instagram y así los interesados podrán contactarte. ¿Se debe ser perfecto para ser modelo? ¡No! Usualmente las fotos que suele ver la gente (de campañas y eso) están retocadas siempre, bien sea para arreglar la iluminación, el contraste o arreglar algún tipo de imperfección en los modelos. Lo que sí es cierto es que hay que cumplir con un peso estándar y estar en buena forma.
Let's start by explaining the two ways to be a model: One is through an agency and the other is on your own (what I do). Basically, the first option is "simpler" because the agency makes your portfolio and shows it to their catalogue of clients according to the physique they are looking for and that way you get contracts. On your own, you make your own portfolio and upload it to Instagram so that interested parties can contact you. Do you have to be perfect to be a model? No! Usually the photos that people see (from campaigns and so on) are always retouched, either to fix the lighting, the contrast or to fix some kind of imperfection in the models. What is true is that you have to meet a standard weight and be in good shape.
Nunca estuve en agencia dado a que tenía amigas que estaban dentro y sus experiencias me hicieron desistir, ya que muchas de éstas presionan mucho con el peso, cobran más de lo que te pagan y quieren manejar la vida del modelo además de obligarlos a hacer trabajos que no quieren. Por mi cuenta he conseguido buenos trabajos y me manejo como quiero.
I was never in an agency because I had friends who were in it and their experiences made me give up because many of them put a lot of pressure on the weight, charge more than they pay you and want to manage the model's life and force them to do jobs they don't want to do. On my own I got good jobs and I manage myself the way I want to.
No es algo propiamente obligatorio, pero en lo personal me gusta cambiar de estilo seguido para así obtener más trabajos, dado a que mi apariencia es diferente cada vez.
It's not a must, but personally I like to change my style often to get more jobs as my look is different every time.
Mi experiencia ha sido bastante buena la verdad, me ha tocado trabajar con gente genial, clientes que aceptan sugerencias y fotógrafos con los que conecto bien, y que permiten que las sesiones fotográficas fluyan. De hecho lo que sé de fotografía lo he aprendido de muchos de ellos, ya que los modelos tenemos que tener una ligera idea de fotografía para saber posar.
My experience has been quite good, I've worked with great people, clients who accept suggestions and photographers with whom I connect well and who allow the photo shoots to flow. In fact, what I know about photography I know from many of them, since we models have to have a slight idea of photography to know how to pose.

¿Es cierto que para obtener contratos hay que tener porfolio de todo tipo? ¡No! si no quieres hacer fotos en traje de baño o ropa interior, no tienes porqué hacerlo, así que no tienes que tener una sesión de ese tipo en tu porfolio. Además cada quien hace lo que le plazca, hay modelos de pasarela, de manos, de pies, de fotos, de comerciales, y hay quien hace de todo un poco, eso depende del gusto de cada quien.
Is it true that to get contracts you have to have a portfolio of all kinds? No! If you don't want to shoot in a swimming costume or underwear you don't have to do it, so you don't have to have a session of that kind in your portfolio. Besides, everyone does what they like, there are catwalk models, hand models, foot models, photo models, commercial models and there are those who do a bit of everything, it depends on each person's preference.
También hay que tener cuidado con quien trabajas, debes cerciorarte de que sea una empresa existente, que todo vaya bien y además ir acompañada a las sesiones de fotos para que estés segura. Hay muchas personas que se aprovechan de los modelos y más si trabajan por su cuenta.
You also have to be careful who you work with, make sure that it's an existing company and that everything goes well and that you are accompanied by another person to the photo sessions so that you are safe. There are many people who take advantage of models and even more so if they work on their own.
Puede parecer divertido hacer fotos (y lo es) pero también es desgastante muchas veces, dado a que se pueden extender bastante, sobre todo cuando la escena es bastante montada o llamativa y lleva mucho maquillaje, peinado y un atuendo o varios difícil de ponerse. Inclusive una sesión puede dudar varios días, sin embargo, para mí sigue siendo genial y lo disfruto bastante.
It may seem fun to take photos (and it is) but it's also exhausting as they can be quite long, especially when the scene is quite staged or flashy and involves a lot of make-up, hair and a difficult outfit to wear or several outfits. Even a session can take several days, but for me it's still great and I enjoy it a lot.
