It's Thursday! You know it means rant and, lo, I have some sh*t to say!

Source

I have to admit the idea to begin with this rant was supposed to be a quote. But I had to read a lot to find one that encapsulates the nature of our government in some words. It is beautiful!

Management cares about only one thing. Paperwork. They will forgive almost anything else - cost overruns, gross incompetence, criminal indictments - as long as the paperwork's filled out properly. And in on time.

-Connie Willis, Bellwether

Where to start?

I remember a scene of the series of books by Douglas Adams "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" (maybe it's on the second book or the third), while stuck in primitive Earth, some of the main characters stumble upon primates that should be de ancestors of humanity. However, they got to the planet on board of a ship full of incompetent beings.

The idea was that some planet sent the bureaucrats of their off into space in collision course with the blue planet. After some shenanigans happen, Arthur finds out they Humanity descends from the bureaucrats and not from the primates.

In a similar fashion, all the branches of government are characters taken out of fiction.

One for the biggest problems of our society is the lack of professionals in important areas. All of them have been replaced with some fool who claps and the speeches of the government. They think they'll get some reward because they play their part. But the joke on them! With their knees of the ground and their servitude, the refines squeezes them harder than the regular citizen.

Incompetence has become the lay of the land in Venezuela.

Water, yet again

Which brings me back to the topic of the water service. We've been experiencing too many cuts for alleged repairs. But we know they play coy with this cuts. There's always been water problem in the country. However, this problems uses to be how the pipes didn't reach certain places. They were fixed because the government actually did something to help people with their basic needs. But those are nothing else than a bedtime story in our times.

I'd like to address the fact that someone has already made a thorough post about the water issues in Cumaná. If you want to learn more about it, go to this post by hlezama@hlezama. In there you will get a better picture of how people suffer from this. He also did a good job capture some of the moments of this struggle.

There are not many options about the things we can do with our problems. As the government has the control of both the army and the thugs, any attempt of rising in protest will surely be squashed. It happened back in 2016 when a lot for students were killed during the protests. The people on top do not care one bit.

One would think there are certain guarantees for citizens, but it doesn't matter. Want is power. The power to control people and render them thoughtless because hungry and thirsty people care little about politics and else.

The funny thing is that tomorrow there's another cut on the water supply system. They claim it's necessary to solve the pressure issues in other parts of the city. Of course it's a bluff! They have no idea of what they are doing. How could they? All the brains behind any service were fired years ago. Now they are reaping the fruits of their decisions.

And as any socialist government, they will blame the United States for all the problems of society. And problem solved!

If only it were that easy...

Another cut and we'll see what comes out of the pipes. Each time something like that happens, I wanna grab a cup a shive it down the Mayor's or Governor's throat. That would be cathartic.

I can't help but wonder how much money is wasted on this repairs. Of course, none of it goes to the hands of the people working in whatever they do. It all goes to supervisors and those who supervise this lot. At the end of the day, the order was signed and the job was done. Who cares about money? Or if the repairs were made?

Bottles of whiskey are drunk, cigars lit, and escorts paid. Society keeps crumbling at the same rate of the services and there's no escape from the stranglehold.

Not even a saving grace

People might think this is a grim picture of Venezuela. My countrymen love talking about our land and its wonders. Yet, they always forget that you can die tomorrow on this soil and became a huge problem for your relatives. There's no revolution or grand scheme that could save us.

Unfortunately, our fate is in the hands of those who kill our country little by little. Who knows? Maybe some greedy bastard finds themselves fed up with how the show is run and decides to throw a coup. I hope it happens and they kill each other until the last of these socialists is dead.

In the end it might not change anything, we are in this mess because of greed. And greed will be our downfall.
