Hello there, my fellow musicians and music lovers!
We come back after having gotten a new star for the thumbnail. But there's no time to rest or stop learning. To kick off things in this new cycle of performances, I'm glad to start with another Joropo. This one is from the cousin of my grandfather, Francisco Cortesía. This cousin has some interesting compositions. I played one of my favorites song by him a few entries ago and now have the chance of performing another one.
The title of this Joropo is Arenas. You could look for the translation and learn it how to say sands in Spanish. It is a reference to a town on a neighboring Municipality that has the name Arenas. Maybe it was a place where people could gather sand from the banks of the rivers that cross around that place. But that's just speculation.
I love the themes on this piece. The second part is just amazing with those jumps between chords and feels amazing to play. And of course, we cannot play one of these joropos and not add the improvisation at the end. I wanted to play both Golpe de Arpa and then go to the Estribillo, but that would've been too long tiresome. So, I went with the former. Anyways, since this is my cover, I'm allowed to do what I want to have a feeling with the piece.
I'll drop some links of the versions of this Joropo since they are quite good.
Hopefully, you'll mind my cover interesting!
