Beloved friends and brothers of Steemchurch happy to be able to share with you a little bit about the wonderful word of God.
The word friendship comes from the Latin root "amicus", but the word we have for friendship in the original Greek text of the New Testament is filos, meaning the one who loves or likes something or someone.
Now, it is obvious that in the sense of friendship of intimacy and communion it is impossible for it to be established when one of the parties involved does not want it, or else wishes it under the condition of unequal yoke, namely, communion of darkness with the light, what is impossible to the aforementioned communion.
Hence Jesus define as his close friends, only those who keep his commandments, because they are born of the Holy Spirit, and having their room can share spiritual communion with the Lord, which is spirit.
Strictly speaking, it can not be called true friendship that is based on evil, because in this can not exist true love, because what characterizes a true friendship is love.
Thus, there are close friends, not close friends, and in our days even virtual friends, such as social networks, who despite not knowing each other personally, in some cases, can maintain ties of friendship in the common interest of wanting good one another.
Now, we must consider that friendship is not something that is necessarily permanent, because it is possible that someone assumes a different position and contrary to whom he previously loved, for justifiable reason or not. The Bible is full of examples related to this, even of friends who have become even traitors, as we see for example in the quotes of Jeremiah and our Lord Jesus Christ, in the following texts:
"Well, I hear the defamation of many, terror everywhere, denounce it, denounce it!" All my intimate friends say, waiting for my food, it may well be deceived, we prevail against it and we will take our revenge "(Jeremiah 20:10). )
"And even parents, and brothers, and relatives, and friends will be delivered, and kill some of you:" (Luke 21:16)
However, apart from all the prudence that we must have, it is necessary to fulfill the biblical ordinance that on what depends on us we must have peace with all people, and not harbor sorrows and resentments in our hearts, even in relation to those who They have offended us And especially in relation to our brothers in Christ we must follow the apostolic instruction that says:
"Finally, all of one mind, have compassion, love as brothers, compassionate, humble," (I Peter 3,8)
"Be Loved one another with brotherly love, preferring in honor of each other;" (Romans 12:10)
But even in this case we must have all the prudence, knowing that a true friendship demands of those who are friends a refined and approved character, because the simple name of a believer will not avail us when we do not walk in a straight and faithful way, and with certainty , the bonds of friendship suffer with this, as we are alerted in the following text of Proverbs:
"The man who has many friends, has us to his ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother." (Proverbs 18:24)
There is only one friend who never fails, more arrived than a brother, who is always faithful to us, and this is Jesus Christ.
All other friends fail or can fail ... hence the need we have to practice forgiveness, for continuity with the relationship with those who love us in fact and who are sincere in their behavior.
Let us follow the example of Jesus, according to the case of the restoration of the apostle Peter, who despite having denied it because he was pressured by circumstances, had never denied it in his heart, because he truly loved it.
