All your efforts are useless, all your struggle will not reach victory, all your ideals will be frustrated, your dreams will be transformed into nightmares, your purpose will not be reached, you will be frustrated.
Maybe that first paragraph expresses our biggest fears, as human beings. All of us, however simple we are, we long for something, we have a dream, we want to do something and only the possibility of not reaching that scares us.
We work five, six days a week, some up to seven, divided into eight or even eighteen hours. We spend fortunes with mediatic desires: the house of dreams, the furniture of dreams, the mobile of dreams, the television of dreams. And, in the end, we do not reach the long-awaited happiness and we conclude: it must not exist.
And, in that stressful moment, we do not think it's wrong, it does not exist, but we get frustrated by having run so far without getting anywhere. We were frustrated because our feet ran, our arms got tired, our sweat was spilled on the floor and we did not succeed.
But I would like to tell you that it is not happiness that does not exist, but your career is that it is being trite in the wrong direction.
Why do you spend money on what is not bread, and your sweat, on what does not satisfy? I listened attentively, eat the good and you will delight with fine delicacies. Is 55.2
Think of your life for a second. Think of all that you have persecuted, what you have struggled to achieve, what your sweat has bought, and see how our path has been in our day.
We fight to buy a television, while our children have a terrible education. We fight for a cell phone, while destroying our personal relationships. We fight for a house, when we do not even spend a day in it. We fight for expensive furniture, knowing that we do not enjoy them. We fight for car, being that our biggest frustrations are the time spent on them.
Today we do not seek to live, we try to distract ourselves while death arrives and that is not what God wants for us. Isaiah says this in this verse, that we have worn away with temporal values and chasing dreams that will pass, when what God wants to give us is eternal salvation.
All your dreams will be frustrated because they will end in your death. They will end at the moment of their last breath. You will no longer have your assets at that moment, you will be alone, you will die.
God offers you today the opportunity to spend your efforts to have the true bread, offers you the opportunity to sweat to achieve an eternal and inestimable value, value that will transform your life, value that will spread to those who live with you, the opportunity to have eternal life
You will get tired, your life will be spent, but with Christ your efforts will not be in vain, but its end will be a resumption and death will be the beginning of a new life, eternal life, where to know God.
