I really like that Hive is giving me an incentive to go and explore some of the local spots I would usually neglect. This was the first time I took my camera up here, and probably the first time I have visited in over 5 years.
I work at the local supermarket and stock shelves twice a week at night because it works perfectly into my uni timetable, however sometimes the truck is unreliable and that means I have a free night. This was one of those times, so I decided to go 10 mins down the road and climb an extinct volcano!
I tried something different, and used my 24-70 lens instead of my 14-24 as there were no foreground elements. Thats how I ended up getting this silhouette image that actually looks pretty cool.
I saw a wallaby up there, but it was a bit far away to capture without a telephoto and it hopped away when I slowly approached its direction.
As the sun was setting, I noticed that some smokey haze was making it look huge, so I captured it over the wind turbines. I am really impressed with how sharp the images taken with my 24-70 f4 are considering it is the 'budget' version. (F2.8 version is much more premium, and so is the price).
This was a hard image to balance the colours with, as it did not take much at all to over exposure the sky.
Finally, as I was getting ready to walk back down, I found a super cute echidna less than a metre off the track. It seemed to be a little confused by me, and kept poking its head up to see if I was there before crawling away.
