I love being able to find locations that are either rarely photographed, or are hidden in plain sight. This particular image was taken in a paddock about 1km from my home in a small rural farming town. While these silo's are visible from the main highway that passes by, no one ever stops to take in their beauty.
When I took in this sight for the first time, I knew it would make the perfect foreground for the milky way. However, it rose slightly to the right, so I positioned myself to be able to capture 'the emu rising'. If you look at the consolation closely, you will be able to see how it resembles the Australian emu!
While this photo is not perfect, with the distortion visible, from the use of a crop sensor lens on my Nikon D750 (taken in 2020, before I had purchased a full frame wide angle), I was still proud of it, more-so since finding the silo's had been demolished, leaving this to be the only astro image ever made here!
