Waking up to who you are requires letting go of who you imagine to be
I have heard the statement "just be yourself" many times and l tend to wonder why people refer this to others without first saying it to themselves.
What if someone is a jerk to other people? Is it okay for them to just be themselves and go on being a jerk to everyone? How about people who are fearful of being around others and live a hermit-like life, avoiding people?
In my quest for answers I've found that it is very much possible to just be yourself. The person who is a jerk to others and the person who is afraid of social situations are, in actuality, not being themselves. Their real self is just being covered up with conditioned, fear-based situation.
Our true selves stares back at us each time we look at the mirror when no one is around, and until we fight certain factors in our lives, until we stop proving to others who we are, then we might never be able to be ourselves..
You don't have to pretend to be who you are not, this is who you are and you are unique in your own way.
We weren't created to be equal in all ramifications, stop the cover up attitude that you put on just to gain favour and start acting real and watch the universe and all works of nature smile on you.
Here are a few steps to uncover who you really are:
•Get In touch with your inner child
I am not asking you to play around nude and get dirty all day, watch children closely and you will see how free they are and how little they care about what people think. They dont care about how silly people think of them when they when they dance in the frontyard for all the neighbors to see. They are their true nature.
When you begin to view things from this angle, you will see just how stiff and how hard you try to makr people believe you are the "fake you.
•Follow your Intuition
This is what l consider the most important factor in being yourself.
I once ignored my intuitions for a long time because I allowed myself to be obliged to the happiness of others towards me.
I was afraid of doing something new and stepping out of my comfort zone for fear of what others will think if I do something new. I spend time putting up attitudes that's satisfactory to others but makes me unhappy, this is what we suffer until we take the bold step and be who we really are from the inside out.
When you let go of the old ways of thinking, follow your bliss, and do what you love, you begin to align with happiness and peace. These are all indicators that you are connected with your true nature. You are then allowing your real self to shine forth in all its glory and this is what l call "being yourself at all time.
