I'm Back!

It has been a few months since my last post, but I am back with a new mission: Learning German. 

Backstory

In a few months I will be moving to Germany for a year so before I go I would like learn as much German as I can to enter the country with a decent understanding of the language and culture. In the past I have tried to learn Japanese with a little success, and I learned a little bit of Mandarin Chinese but wasn't able to accomplish much, but this time I hope to be conversationally fluent and around a B1-B2 level on the CEFR scale by the end of these next three months.

My Plan

My schedule for the next three months is by this guide by Benny Lewis, the creator of the blog fluentin3months.com and author of multiple books (Including a book I will be using to study German). Benny Lewis stresses a speak from day one strategy that I totally agree with so this next week I will follow his steps to prepare for my first German conversation. I will start by preparing a script of essential phrases I will need for a basic self-introduction conversation. Then I will start learning basic vocab and grammar. Over the next three months I hope to learn around 2,000 of the most common words and phrases, which make up between 70 and 80% of the most common spoken German.

I have only read a little bit of this book and I think it is perfect for me, it is based around Benny Lewis's approach and has many tips to get speaking right away. Over the next few months I will be reviewing this book in my posts about language learning.

I will also be using italki soon.

Fluent in 3 months is an amazing resource for tips and tricks for learning new languages. The creator of the site Benny Lewis is a polyglot who knows several languages and has wrote many amazing articles on how to learn them.Also they have many helpful products to help you learn languages and if you buy some using my link, I will get a portion of the money to help me make more of these posts. Today

I got off to a rough start today and didn't complete as much as I wanted to. I did start my language hacking book and so far I really like it. I have learned so basic phrases and have laid a foundation for my next few months of learning.
