Haha... yes, I would say that would be the case that there are many grades of beginner bows!
Cellists are fewer than violinists... and the ones that we know have already had some interest in Baroque music, and have picked themselves up something already. The newbies that we attract have tended towards the treble end of things... possibly because I'm a violinist?
Ouch, a cello does set you back a bit more than a violin.. and then there are the lessons...
