Yes, unfortunately, old and very valuable books and publications have been lost due to chemical reactions.
You mentioned that for a reaction to occur spontaneously, there must be an overall increase in entropy, but you did not explain how it is done? I know that entropy is the amount of energy that can not be used to produce a work..but i can't understand the relation between this defintion and Spontaneity.
