An aspect of entrepreneurship within The Fountainhead is innovation. Innovation is one of the most important aspects of entrepreneurship since it represents a shift in demand as well as a shift in the allocation of specific resources. Innovation is clearly represented in the initial sense when they start to bash the “modern architecture. Howard Roark is the main charter in the movie and also happens to be one of the architects that is driving this movement in architecture. He is a man with integrity and proves this when he is struggling to pay his bill. He has a deal on the table that would bring him out of this slump, however they wanted to change his design. This would break his morals in that the building he drafts is the building to be built. This is an example of how strong his integrity is. How this connects to the aspect of entrepreneurship is due to his innovation within the Architectual environment. This aspect in the movie is present after the owner of a famous newspaper, The Banner, writes an article bashing him and his design. Later on in the movie, the owner sees these new buildings being built in New York and falls in love with them. Falls in love with this innovation. So much so that he hires him to make several of his company's buildings as well as personal homes. I found this interesting since I've always lived with the saying never judge a book by its cover. This is exactly what the owner did, he judged the design on other people's opinions and not his own then realized that he was terribly wrong.
This aspect of entrepreneurship affects society in multiple ways. Specifically, innovation affects society every single day, from the gas that we use, to the ingredients in our food, to what type of training a person can do. Innovation is how our society progresses. Looking at the style of innovation within the movie, the new building style affects society since it changes the image of the city that they are living in, it changes the attitude of people around and also changes how people act towards certain business all due to the style of building they are based in. When talking about innovation as a whole society does not always have the correct opinion about innovation since as humans, we are taught to not love change and that is what innovation is change. Looking at society within the movie and their feelings about the innovation, what is said prior applies since the employs find out after an incident with another building that the architect is reasonable and they now start to boycott the newspaper because of this. However, since Howard has such strong morals, he does not cave into society, thing alters some of their perceptions of who he is, and they start to support this shift in building styles. The interaction between this aspect of entrepreneurship is generally one that goes unnoticed. Like I said before, innovation is all around us and happening every day. Of course, there are some parts of innovation that are more obvious than others i.e., the transition from fingerprint phones to face identification. The innovation we see in the movie has a subconscious interaction with society since it affects what we see.
