Büyükçekmece Municipality Prof. Dr. Türkan Saylan Social Facility (Eng-Tr)

Hello everyone!

I predicted that May would be full of many firsts for me due to the arrival of spring. And actually, at some point I realised that I was not wrong. When I joined HIVE on 4 January 2023, I didn't think I could be so active, but I look at myself and I'm here and I'm doing the 2nd first of this month. As you can understand from the name of the community, although I haven't shared here before, I didn't stand still and I went somewhere with my family, even if we didn't have my brother with us, and let's take a look at where I went.

In actual case, this is a place we decided on the spur of the moment because my mother and father's 1 May Labour and Solidarity Day was a holiday and my mother and I, mostly my mother, did not want to sit at home in a sunny and beautiful weather.

We decided to go out, but we didn't know where we wanted to go. Büyükçekmece Municipality Prof. Dr. Türkan Saylan Social Facility is a place I remember seeing on social media while brainstorming while making certain adjustments due to the medications I use and my diet.

Since I thought we would stay for a long time, I prepared my necessary meals and we set off.

Since I was the princess of the house, of course I settled in the back seat immediately. The journey was not as short as I thought, frankly. I am sure it was due to both the traffic caused by the public holiday and the distance due to the fact that I live in the most distant corner of Istanbul. Naturally, during the long journey, it was time for me to take my medicine and as soon as I took out my meal containing nuts, a hand reached out from the front and wanted to be a partner.

After a car journey of about 1 hour, we arrived at the facility and to be honest, I was very happy that there are still so many green, nature-intertwined places in Istanbul.

The exit from the car park was a bit confusing because neither me nor my family wanted to step on the grass, but when we saw that people around were moving freely, we realised that there was no rule about this issue and we started walking to explore the facility.

We came across a lot of trees and flower varieties whose names I don't know and forgot and I must say that this facility is in a very good condition in terms of landscaping. I even saw a creature that I haven't seen for a very long time, especially in Istanbul: bees!

After going a little further, and I still feel the remorse of stepping on the grass, we came across two beauties.

Most probably the fountains in the small pond were closed due to the season and I would like to come here in summer and see the fountains when they are open.

There is nothing that Atatürk said that I do not agree with, but this one is special for me:

Putting aside the fact that children are my weak point, I liked both of these views quite a lot.

After walking a little further, we came across a few places on the road, but our first stop was of course the ice-cream place I chose by using my princess right.

Ice cream prices were much more affordable than I thought. Because I suddenly remembered the ice cream shop we visited in Kadıköy last year while travelling with my Berceste.

A scoop of ice cream was exactly 10₺, 0.51¢ I would like to warn you in case you happen to be on your way; credit or debit card is not valid. But of course, we can associate this with the fact that it is cheaper than the region it is located in.

The ice creams had a good side and a bad side. The bad side was that the choice of flavours was limited. Apart from the classic options such as chocolate, vanilla, cherry, lemon, there was only a variety called Smurfs because of its colour.

The good thing was that it melted quickly, which was just one of the indicators that the additives in it were low.

For this price, I think it was a great ice cream.

While eating our ice creams, we continued to move forward and came across buildings with two different themes.

Right next to the photo on the left is a restaurant belonging to the facility. I think most of you will agree with the reason why I didn't take a photo of that restaurant; children. There were a lot of children around and as you can appreciate, it is not nice to take their photos, especially to do it without permission. I waited for a while for the children to leave, but it was as if they were glued there.

There are basketball, badminton and tennis courts in the sports section and these courts are completely free to use. You may only have to wait in a queue. Again, I couldn't take photos because of the children, but I can assure you that they are classic courts.

If you may recall, I mentioned above that the landscape is wonderful, and again we came across wonderful spring scenes.

This photo beautifully announces the arrival of spring and it felt great to be able to capture such a shot with my phone (Samsung Galaxy A13), whose camera I can say is terrible.

My father wanted to sit down and rest for a while due to his health problems and we sat in a cafe just 50 metres away from this wonderful scene.

Fortunately, the cafe provided the necessary needs such as chairs and tables outside and we were able to sit outside comfortably because we did not miss our sunscreen.

Personally, I ordered Turkish coffee because I don't like tea and my parents wanted tea as a classic. And I should remind you that no card is valid in any of the establishments of this facility, so you have to pay in cash. Also this cafe is self-service.

I finally took a photo with my dad when there were no kids around. Do you think we look alike? They usually think we look alike but it's normal because I'm his daughter.

I would like to add a photo of me with my mum but again the kids...

After sitting for a while my mum said she was hungry and we went to the restaurant I mentioned above which is located just behind the sports building and I was once again surprised by the prices.

Since I was on a diet, I ordered only the classic Turkish lentil soup and my parents ordered meatballs with cheese.

There was no option other than Turkish lentil soup. The reason was the phrase "soup of the day" on the menu. Which I think is absolutely understandable. The business avoids as much expense and waste as possible in order to keep its prices low. Also the price was 20₺, $1.03.

The only difference from a classic meetball with cheese plate was that saffron was put in the rice, but this was a big plus for my mum. Especially when you consider that she is Azerbaijani. And the price of this plate was 70₺, $3.59.

After we finished our meal, we made my brother a portion of meatballs with cheese and set off.

Mayıs ayının benim için bir sürü ilk ile dolu olacağını baharın gelişinden dolayı tahmin etmiştim. Ve aslında bir noktada yanılmadığımı da anladım. 4 Ocak 2023'te HIVE'a katıldığımda bu kadar aktif olabileceğimi düşünmüyordum ama kendime bir bakıyorum da buralardayım ve bu ayın 2. ilkini gerçekleştiriyorum. Community isminden de anlayabileceğiniz gibi, burada daha önce bir paylaşımda bulunmamış olsam da yine yerimde durmadım ve kardeşim olmasa da ailemle bir yerelere gittim ve hadi nereye gittiğime bir bakalım.

Aslında annemin ve babamın 1 Mayıs Emek ve Dayanışma gününün tatil olması sebebiyle benim ve annemin, daha çok annemin, güneşli ve güzel bir havada evde oturmak istememesiyle anlık olarak karar verdiğimiz bir yer burası.

Dışarı çıkmaya karar verdik fakat nereye gitmek istediğimizi bilmiyorduk. Benim kullandığım ilaçlar ve diyet programım yüzünden belli ayarlamaları yaparken beyin fırtınası yaparken bir anda sosyal medya üzerinden gördüğümü hatırladığım bir yer Büyükçekmece Belediyesi Prof. Dr. Türkan Saylan Sosyal Tesisi.

Uzun süre kalacağımızı düşündüğüm için gerekli öğünlerimi hazırladım ve yola koyulduk.

Evin prensesi olduğum için arka koltuğa yerleştim tabii ki hemen. Yol düşündüğüm kadar kısa sürmedi açıkçası. Hem resmi tatil olmasından kaynaklı olan bir trafik hem de benim İstanbul'un en ücra köşesinde yaşamamın verdiği uzaklıktan dolayı olduğuna eminim. Doğal olarak uzun süren yolculuk sırasında ilacımı içme zamanım geldi ve kuruyemiş içeren öğünümü çıkardığım anda ön taraftan bir el uzandı ortak olmak istedi.

Yaklaşık 1 saatlik bir araba yolculuğundan sonra tesise vardık ve açıkçası İstanbul'da hâlâ bu kadar yeşil, doğa ile iç içe yerlerin olması beni çok sevindirdi.

Park yerinden çıkış biraz kafamı karıştırmıştı açıkçası çünkü ne ben ne de ailem çimlere basmak istemiyorduk fakat çevredeki insanların rahatça ilerlediğini gördüğümüzde bu konu ile ilgili bir kural olmadığının farkına varıp tesisi keşfetmek için yürümeye başladık.

İsimlerini bilmediğim ve unuttuğum bir sürü ağaç ve çiçek çeşidi ile karşılaştık ve söylemeliyim ki peyzaj konusunda oldukça iyi bir durumda bu tesis. Hatta çok uzun zamandır özellikle İstanbul'da görmediğim bir canlı ile karşılaştım. Arılar!

Biraz daha ilerledikten sonra ki çimlere basmanın vicdan azabını hâlâ hissediyorum, iki güzellik ile karşılaştık.

Büyük ihtimalle küçük göletteki fıskiyeler mevsimden dolayı kapalıydı ve yazın buraya gelip bir de fıskiyelerin açık olduğu hâlini görmek istiyorum.

Atam'a, katılmadığım sözü yoktur ama bu sözü benim için ayrıdır:

Çocukların zayıf noktam olduğunu bir kenara bırakacak olursam bu iki manzara da oldukça hoşuma gitti.

Biraz daha ilerledikten sonra ki yol üzerinde birkaç yere denk geldik fakat ilk durağımız tabii ki de prenseslik hakkımı kullanarak seçtiğim dondurmacı oldu.

Dondurma fiyatları bu tesiste düşündüğümden çok daha uygundu. Çünkü bir anda aklıma geçen sene Bercestem ile beraber gezerken Kadıköy'de uğradığımız dondurmacı gelmişti.

Bir top dondurma tam olarak 10₺ idi. Olur da yolunuz düşerse diye uyarmak istiyorum; kredi kartı veya banka kartı geçerli değil. Ama bu durumu bulunduğu bölgeye göre daha ucuz olması ile ilişkilendirebiliriz elbette.

Dondurmaların bir iyi yanı bir de kötü yanı vardı. Kötü yanı işletmede çeşit seçeneği kısıtlıydı. Klasik diyebileceğimiz çikolata, vanilya, vişne, limon gibi seçeneklerin dışında sadece renginden dolayı Şirinler olarak adlandırılan çeşidi vardı.

İyi yanı ise çabuk eriyordu ki içerisindeki katkı maddesinin az olduğunun göstergelerinden sadece birisiydi.

Bu ücret karşılığında bence harika bir dondurmaydı.

Dondurmalarımızı yerken ilerlemeye devam ettik ve karşımıza iki farklı teması olan binalar çıktı.

Soldaki fotoğrafın hemen yanında tesise ait bir restoran bulunuyor. O restoranın fotoğrafını çekmememin sebebine çoğunuzun hak vereceğini düşünüyorum; çocuklar. Çevrede çok fazla çocuk vardı ve takdir edersinizki onların fotoğraflarını çekmek hele ki bunu izinsiz yapmak hoş değil. Biraz bekledim çocuklar gidebilir diye fakat sanki oraya yapıştırılmışlardı.

Spor bölümünde basketbol ve badminton sahası ve tenis kortu bulunuyor ve bu sahaları kullanmak tamamen ücretsiz. Sadece sıra beklemeniz gerekebilir. Yine aynı şekilde çocuklardan dolayı fotoğraf çekemedim ama klasik sahalar olduğuna sizi temin ederim.

Yukarıda peyzajın harika olduğundan bahsetmiştim hatırlarsanız ve yine harika bahar sahnelerine denk geldik.

Bu fotoğraf baharın geldiğini müjdeliyor çok güzel bir şekilde ve kamerası rezil diyebileceğim telefonumla (Samsung Galaxy A13) böyle bir kareyi yakalayabilmek harika hissettirdi.

Babam, sağlık sorunlarından dolayı biraz oturup dinlenmek istedi ve bu harika sahnenin hemen 50 metre ilerisinde bulunan bir kafeye oturduk.

Neyse ki kafe sandalye ve masa gibi gerekli ihtiyaçları dışarıya da sağlıyordu ve bizde güneş kremimizi eksik etmediğimiz için rahatça dışarıda oturabildik.

Şahsen ben çay sevmediğim için Türk kahvesi sipariş verdim ve annemle babam klasik olarak çay istediler. Ve hatırlatmalıyım sanırım bu tesisin hiçbir işletmesinde kart geçerli değil bu yüzden nakit ödeme yapılıyor. Ayrıca bu kafe self-service.

Sonunda çocukların olmadığı bir anda babamla bir fotoğraf çekinebildim. Sizce benziyor muyuz? Genelde bizi benzetirler ama çok normal sonuçta kızıyım.

Annemle olan fotoğrafımı da eklemek isterdim fakat tekrar çocuklar...

Bir süre oturduktan sonra annem acıktığından bahsetti ve yukarıda spor binasının hemen arkasında bulunduğundan bahsettiğim restorana girdik ve ben bir kez daha fiyatlara şaşırdım.

Ben diyette olduğum için sadece klasik mercimek çorbası söyledim ve annemle babamda kaşarlı köfte söylediler.

Mercimek çorbası dışında bir seçenek yoktu. Sebebi ise menüde "Günün çorbası" tabiri. Ki kesinlikle anlaşılabilir bir durum bence. İşletme fiyatlarını düşük tutabilmek için olabildiğince masraftan ve israftan kaçınıyor. Ayrıca fiyatı 20₺ idi.

Klasik bir kaşarlı köfte tabağından tek farkı pilavının içerisine safran konulmuş olmasıydı ama bu annem için kocaman bir artıydı. Özellikle Azeri olduğunu göz önünde bulundurduğunuzda. Ve bu tabağın fiyatı 70₺ idi.

Yemeğimiz bittikten sonra kardeşime de bir porsiyon kaşarlı köfte yaptırıp yola koyulduk.
