Hello everyone! I hope you are having a beautiful day! Today I will bring you a little bit of Bologna, a city that a few months ago, became my refuge.
Well, to be honest, as soon as I looked up to find the city, I thought: "Oh no, I've come to a concrete jungle". I was traveling from Misano Adriatico, which was pure sea, and Bologna seemed to want to "swallow me up" with its terracotta and red walls.
However, only a day after arriving and finding out where I could go to escape from those walls that weaved endlessly through the small Italian city, I learned of a Sanctuary that was on top of the hill of La Guardia.
It was the Sanctuary of the Madonna of San Luca (Madonna in Italy means Madonna), which you could reach by trekking for about 1.30 hours for 6 km. Well, I at least had to walk that leaving from "Dopa Hostel" which is where I was staying.
6 km there and 6 km back, were for me, extremely interesting as an activity of the day, since it implied about 3 hours of walking, with a break in the middle, which would mean doing one of the things I love the most in the world and that is to visit a new place.
Hola a todos! Espero que estén teniendo un hermoso día! Hoy les traeré un poco de Bologna, una ciudad que hace pocos meses atrás, se convirtió en mi refugio.
Pues bien, para ser sincera, apenas alcé la vista para encontrarme con la ciudad, pensé: “Ay no, he venido a una jungla de cemento”. Yo estaba viajando desde Misano Adriático, que era puro mar, y Bologna parecía querer “tragarme” con sus muros terracota y rojos.
Sin embargo, tan solo un día después de llegar y averiguando a dónde podía ir a escaparme de aquellas paredes que se entrelazaban sin cesar por la pequeña ciudad italiana, me enteré de un Santuario que estaba en la cima de la colina de La Guardia.
Se trataba del Santuario de la Madonna de San Luca (Madonna en Italia significa Virgen), al que podías llegar haciendo una especie de trekking por el que debías caminar alrededor de 1,30 horas durante 6 km. Bueno, yo al menos tenía que caminar eso saliendo de “Dopa Hostel” que es donde me estaba hospedando.
6 km de ida y 6 de vuelta, resultaban para mí, sumamente interesantes como actividad del día, ya que eso implicaba alrededor de 3 horas de caminata, con un descanso en el medio, que significaría hacer una de las cosas que más amo en el mundo y es conocer un lugar nuevo.
Well, once on the trail, I found out two very important things between talking to people and researching on the internet. One was that I would arrive at the Sanctuary after going through a series of arches that never ended until the moment I arrived at the place.
The other was that those arches totaled 666, a number associated with darkness, so I investigated what that was all about, but I could not find a clear explanation. The point is that it seemed ironic and in bad taste just that number on the way to one of the most important sanctuaries in Italy, but I was already on the way, so I continued.
Pues bien, una vez andando por el sendero, me enteré de dos cosas importantísimas entre hablar con personas e investigar por internet. Una era que llegaría al Santuario tras atravesar una serie de arcos que no finalizaban jamás hasta el momento de arribar al lugar.
La otra era que esos arcos sumaban en total 666, número que se asocia a la oscuridad, así que investigué de qué se trataba eso, pero no logré encontrar una explicación clara al respecto. La cuestión es que me pareció irónico y de mal gusto justo ese número camino a uno de los santuarios más importantes de Italia, pero yo ya estaba en el camino, así que continué.
Once on top of the hill of La Guardia, about 300 meters above sea level, was the Sanctuary of the Madonna of San Luca, where I entered quickly, so I had already gotten there, but I was much more interested in walking around the esplanade that surrounded it, since my ultimate goal was to be more in contact with nature and get away a little from the endless walls of Bologna.
So I walked around, breathed fresh air and took some pictures.
Una vez arriba del cerro de La Guardia, a unos 300 metros de altura, se encontraba el Santuario de la Madonna de San Luca, a donde entré rápidamente, por lo que ya había llegado hasta allí, pero me interesaba mucho más pasear por la explanada que lo rodeaba, ya que mi objetivo final era estar más en contacto con la naturaleza y alejarme un poco de las paredes infinitas de Bologna.
Así que caminé, respiré aire puro y aproveché para tomar varias fotos.
The sanctuary and its surroundings, follow the design of the city itself: high walls of terracotta and orange color that contrast beautifully with the color of the sky and the green of the mountain.
The sun played behind the wall, hiding and rising on the other side, and the trees tinged the landscape with peace, inviting you to simply admire them.
El santuario y sus alrededores, siguen el diseño de la misma ciudad: muros altos de color terracota y anaranjado que contrastan de una manera muy bella con el color del cielo y el verde del monte.
El sol jugaba por detrás del muro, escondiéndose y saliendo por otro lado, y los árboles teñían el paisaje de paz, invitándote a simplemente admirarlos.
Today they are a refuge for my memory, as it was so beautiful to feel that sense of disconnection after feeling locked in a city.
You see, Bologna is very beautiful, but very closed with walls and porticos, and there is little green inside, so for me, who needs nature, it generated that impression of being trapped in the city.
And that's how it happens sometimes in life. That is why the rescue of that mountain is today a sensation that I resort to several times.
Hoy son un refugio para mi memoria, ya que fue muy hermoso sentir esa sensación de desconexión tras sentirme encerrada en una ciudad.
Verán, es que Bologna es muy bella, pero muy cerrada con muros y pórticos, y hay poco verde en su interior, por lo que a mi, que necesito la naturaleza, me generó esa impresión de estar atrapada en la ciudad.
Y así a veces pasa en la vida. Por ello ese rescate de aquel monte, es hoy una sensación a la que recurro varias veces.
So after spending about an hour in and around the beautiful Sanctuary of the Madonna of San Luca, I started my way back.
This place is a beautiful destination to visit if you visit Bologna. It really tinges your day with history, city and at the same time a unique landscape that is not only full of greenery and trees, but being on a hill, it offers a breathtaking panoramic view.
