Choora.
a.k.a Wedding Bangles.
Sikh brides are traditionally adorned in Red.
Just so happens, Red is one of my favourite colours!
A Sikh wedding is colourful, full of cheer and celebration!
The months leading up to my wedding were spent focussing on every detail of my outfit (there is a lot of detail).
Newly married and still obsessing over photos, when I think of Red, I can’t help but be reminded of a Sikh wedding.
Here’s a shot of my Choora (wedding bangles in Punjabi).
During the Choora Ceremony, the bangles are first dipped into milk. The bride's maternal uncles and brothers, followed by cousins, place 21 bangles (each hand) on the bride.
I wanted modern but traditional, and wore a mix of traditional plastic ivory and red bangles with custom-made metal ones.
