E N G L I S H

Every story is born from a real context. I was in my bed one rainy day. At that moment memories came to my memory, mixed feelings joined me at that moment and it was at that moment when I thought about the sweetness of human beings. Based on this thought, the story that I share with you today arose. Thank you in advance for your support to the #WritingClub community and to those who like to read my short story.

Birds like to bathe in the rain. If my body lived inside a small bird like them, I would probably live locked in a niche. I don't like the rain, nor do I like anything that makes me feel cold.

Birds love to express their joy in every flight they take. If I were trapped in the body of a bird at that precise moment of flight I would hate the cold freezing my blood.

I woke up to birdsong one cloudy morning. The blankets wrapped my body, the pain in my bones was unbearable. My bad mood accelerated. I looked at every moment through a window located in front of my bed, I notice the absence of the sun, only fog, cold air current and the beating of the branches of the trees is what I can visualize.

I turn on the TV, a program cheers me up, they are cartoons that make me remember my childhood. I also remembered my father, he laughs out loud with these programs, he transforms into a child, he shows full happiness because he enjoys his moment.

I turn my eyes to the window, my mood changes abruptly, I still do not see the sun, the breeze beats stronger. The birds are still happily dancing in the air, singing and competing with each other. They land on my window, one by one they take off, quickly return and another one comes out, they seem to be coordinated, as if someone was manipulating them like a puppet. The action infuriates me, while they enjoy themselves, I remain anchored to the bed.

Now the TV is distorted, a roar from the sky interrupted the signal, what was missing! Big good morning message. I get up, put my feet in the cotton slippers, I don't want to touch the floor, standing up I walk dragging all the blankets that cover my body on the bed. Shivering from the cold I reach the TV, I try to fix the problem but another dreadful rumble sends me back to bed with a single jump.

I laughed out loud, I looked crazy, I don't know if it was because of the shock or because I remembered my brothers, they loved the rain, bathing in the downpour. One day they ran out when a strange noise surprised them while they were playing and bathing in the backyard of the house. It had been my dad who with a can of zinc can produced a sound that landed them. That's how I felt after falling on the bed.

I thought I would be electrocuted by the lightning from the sky. I saw myself crumpled with charred hair and the TV cable in my hands. The internal laughter did not stop, my outer self remained cold, parsimonious, with no desire to express any feeling.

Maybe five minutes passed, I thought I had been locked up for many hours. At times the laughter returned, what if I got up again, what if I put my head out of the window to get wet in the rain? hahaha it would be crazy.

Once again my eyes are fixed on that window. The sky lights up with every blink. When will it stop turning on and off! I need to get up from this bed. The birds stun me with their song. The inclement weather harasses. I'll stand up again, at least the TV can distract me.

I don't know when this blessed rain turned into a storm, I didn't see the time pass, nor the moment, nor the change of colors in the sky, I don't know when I got wrapped in the coldness of this weather, in the superficial sound of the external ones, I don't know when the fuck everything changed!

What the hell is going on...?
