Today starts and it's all white. I'm not going to lie to you, this is my first sighting of snow and I must say, I have never seen anything more frightening in my life.
I felt very helpless knowing that I'll have to make my way through this dangerous freak of nature. There were kids excitedly playing in the snow but they don't have to deal with the aftermath of the cold or even go to work in the snow.
Walking on frozen ground is not fun at all. You have to take careful strides,ensuring that you don't slip and hurt something.
A friend of mine at Leeds told me he's seen 5 people hurt themselves because of the snow. It's not fun at all.
What I will admit is that seeing snow for the first time is surreal and it is as cold as I imagined.
It is also quite beautiful but that's only if you're not the one taking off your glove and doing the snapping. I took a couple of photos that I attached above and below this block of text.
When the snow starts melting away, it does come with an ugliness. I noticed this when I was walking into the main road and saw the areas where tyres had "stained" the snow.
Speaking of tyres, buses weren't working, so I had to use one of those rented electric bikes to get to work. It was not a nice experience riding a bike in the snow and I encourage everyone to try it and find out why it was horrible.
It is all part of the experience and I'll take it all in my stride. Winter, summer and everything in between.
