Mantoids are weird creatures that you certainly don't want to run into while out for a picnic. They may look like an ordinary ugly hybrid between housefly and grasshopper, but what you have here is a flesh-eating monster capable of gobbling up things far bigger than its head.
This flesh eating death monger found its way into my Splinterlands team and today, we'll be investigating how it performed in this Splinterlands battle.

The Battle
The Summoner
Pyre isn't one of my favourite Summoners around here but I like the fact that it boosts speed and ensures I get to attack early enough. It also increases the chances of my monsters evading an attack from the slow folks.
Healer Tank
Despite being such a simple monster, Cerberus is one of my favourite Tanks after Lord Arianthus and the giant goblin robot. I think I favour this hell hound because of its low mana cost and the fact that it offers considerable damage in attack.
Miner
When in battle, always have a sneak monster around because, well, gotta do some rear damage. The Kobold miner was placed in the penultimate position because I wanted the scavenger to have enough "meat" to boost its health before it would need to be the tank.
Scavenger
This parasitic growth is disgusting but it is also very handy in battle, as you can see in this exhibition. I wanted to take advantage of the scavenge ability, and so I put two monsters before it and also expected to have killed a few of my opponent's monsters before it became the tank.
Opportunist
The Serpentine spy is probably my most favourite monster around the area and while it is nothing glamorous, it is very effective and can be quite lethal.
It is a very fragile monster, and so, I kept it as far away from the first position as possible. Whenever I use this monster in battle, I always fear that there might be an opponent with more speed and opportunity to hurt me first. Luckily for me, that wasn't the case and my ninja survived.
The Mantoid
The Mantoid is an interesting mnster and despite not usually being on my list, it is very effective. The Snipe ability always takes people by surprise and can be the difference maker in certain battles.
Thorns at the back
Last and certainly not the least, we have thorns at the back in the form of Cornealus. This spiky monster ensured that the only rear guard threat was nullified. It also ensured that I had a monster that would survive, in case
It worked out
It worked out quite well, despite the somewhat tensed ending. Mantoid turned into an unorthodox tank and it even dodged one attack from one of the slow folks in the opponent's camp.
