After a lot of uncertainty and a period when many of my colleagues were announced that they will not have their contract renewed, it seems that I have the started with some good news coming my way. And that is in the form of at least one more year of contract which in the current job market conditions is pretty good. It might be just for the next year as I have heard some noises expecting the activity at the company will wind down and will enter some sort of maintenance, thus probably they might keep few developers and not also automation testers. While now with AI, I believe that from a business point of view I can do the work of a developer and probably much better knowing the systems, from technical point of view things are not quite like that.
I don't know yet the details of it and I have tomorrow a meeting scheduled to see the conditions. Even if I might get a lower rate, at least I don't have to worry for the next period. And in the same time, that allows me to come with a better plan for what I want to do next. Of course easily would be to continue afterwards, but I don't think that will happen. I have visibility to the higher management, but probably I don't have big affinity to the lower management which simply has different ethic and moral values than me. But professionally, they simply cannot say anything and that might be the positive of it.
I am not as happy as to jump high as I am realistic to the times we are living and what it comes next with the AI challenges and also the company status. But at least for the next period, I will have some balance and silence around me. I didn't plan to write this post or any other today, but I felt like getting this out in order to recalibrate myself. 馃槉 Nothing is sure until I sign the collaboration, but at least there are positive signs towards it.
