Sometimes we are running for more and more and more as there is no tomorrow. We consume so much energy in our pursuit to be outstanding successful that we could have light an entire city. And when we get there we might question ourselves if it was all worth it. Being realistic and looking to where we find ourselves at a certain moment in time, might reveal that maybe we have enough. And having this realization and acknowledging it, might free us from everything and allow us to be just happy.

I feel that we all asking the wrong questions (myself included) like: How much money do I need to retire? How much money would achieve financial freedom? Instead of these maybe we can ask ourselves: What does enough looks like? What means enough when it comes to accommodation, friends and family, daily activities? And if we allow ourselves to answer these, we might realize that we already have enough.

I am fortunate enough to own a flat in a big university city and a studio at the seaside. Sometimes I find myself thinking of reinvesting or looking for a bigger property. But than I realize that's good enough for me and expanding from here might even become too much. This makes me move from discontent to a place of happiness and realization if where I am finding myself.

The modern age created an image that being content with what you have stops you from reaching your potential and grow considerable wealth. But that might be far away from the truth and an example on that is offered by Warren Buffet, the legend himself. He still lives in a house he bought in 1958 for $31500. He drives a Cadillac XTS from 2014 and instead of splashy parties and travels, he prefers to play bridge and enjoy coffee with his friends.

Basically Warren Buffet learned that the power of enough meant that he didn't have to signal to others how much money he has. We should learn from it as well and try to find happiness and peace of mind which will improve our life in so many ways. So maybe the crazy goals and financial targets that I am setting to myself are not worth the energy and time if those keep me away from truly enjoying life. This makes me look at not trying to get more, but rather enough. Now let's see if my human nature succeeds to adapt to such a mindset and if I will be able to change myself consider my competitive way of being.

What means enough for you?
